The technology available to us is amazing; it is often the way that we only get the first few letters or numbers, a 'partial index', with the rest of the description and the way that automatic number plate cameras work, there are ways and means of tracing these vehicles.

On tracing the vehicle, depending on the nature of the complaint made, there is then the potential to deal with offences either officially, or to give advice and note it down for intelligence purposes.

As the victim / informant, you would be asked on what you would like doing, rather than an assumption being made that you want to go the whole hog on getting these people through the criminal justice system.

If people like this go out of their normal business to drive back to hurl abuse, what more are they capable of? what will they do next time? Someone else may have reported them for something similar and only given a partial description.

A white van passed me with 3 men in it, they saw me and made a u-turn on which I received verbal abuse for about 5 minutes. The funny thing is I caught up with then at a t-junction and I have never seen someone wind up there window so fast. Again I received abuse and they drove of. I tried to get there number plate but only got there first 3 numbers.

It's a good job I am thick skinned.
